Deck submissions and preregistration
On this page
Deck Submissions lets a player paste their deck list, along with their name and Player ID, either from the public pairings page or from a standalone Preregister link you share ahead of the event. Ruloo counts the list and automatically checks its cards against the current Standard format, so you can see at a glance which lists need a closer look. That check is a helper for your review, not a ruling, and it never touches anything official about the event.
Turning it on
Open Event settings. There are two separate switches, deliberately independent of each other:
- Deck list submissions: under During the event. Adds a Submit your deck list box to the public pairings page.
- Preregistration: under Sign-up. Opens the standalone Preregister page and link, usable before you've imported a roster at all.
Note: Both are off by default, and you don't need both on at once. For example, open preregistration weeks ahead of the event without turning on in-person submission yet, or the reverse.
What a player enters
Whichever entry point they use, players fill in the same three things:
- Player ID: trusted as typed. It doesn't need to match an existing roster entry yet, which is what makes Preregistration work before any roster import.
- Name: typed by the player, never auto-filled from the roster. This is what makes the roster check on Deck lists meaningful (see below).
- Deck list: pasted as plain text, for example a Pokémon TCG Live export with
Pokémon:/Trainer:/Energy:section headers and aTotal Cards:line. They see a live Pokémon/Trainer/Energy/Total count as they paste.
One submission only
A deck list submission is one-shot: the moment a Player ID successfully submits, it locks immediately for that player, not just once you lock deck lists event-wide or once Round 1 is paired. There's no self-service editing after that.
Looking that Player ID up again afterward shows nothing about what was submitted (no name, no deck list text, no card count), just a message that it's already submitted and to speak to you. This is deliberate: once it's locked, there's nothing left for the player to double-check or second-guess on their own.
Important: Deck lists also close automatically the moment you click Verify in Step 3 of TOM's event wizard, which is also when your roster locks. That applies to any player who never submitted, and it ends Preregistration too, not just in-person submission. Since Verify tends to happen right after your roster import, treat Preregistration as your reliable window and the pairings-page box as a last-minute catch.
Note: You can still lock everyone yourself from Deck lists at any time. Already submitted, Verify/Round 1 paired, and an event-wide lock are just different reasons for the same closed state.
Letting a player make a change
Once a deck list is locked, the only way to change it is you reopening it. On Deck lists, find that player's row and tap Let player edit it. This reopens just their entry, without affecting anyone else's, whatever the reason it was closed. Tap Lock again when they're done.
Reviewing what's been submitted
Open Deck lists from the left navigation. It's always available, even with both switches off, so you can still review or unlock past submissions. It lists every player on your roster alongside every deck list submitted, checked against each other:
- Missing: on the roster, but hasn't submitted a deck list.
- Not on roster: submitted a deck list, but there's no matching player on the roster. Usually a preregistration submitted before you imported, or a mistyped Player ID.
- Name differs: both exist, but the name the player typed doesn't match the roster's name for that Player ID. Both names are shown so you can spot a nickname, a typo, or someone who registered under a different name.
- Card count: for everything else, a green badge if it adds up to 60 cards, amber if it doesn't.
- Standard legality: Cards legal, Cards not legal, or Cards need a look, from Ruloo's automatic check of each card against the current Standard format. Check list format means the list's headings or counts need a look.
Search by name or Player ID, open any list to see its cards or the pasted text, or Export CSV to download everything. Players can't change a list once they've sent it, and submission closes for everyone when Round 1 starts. To let one player fix theirs, choose Let player edit it in the ⋯ menu on their row, or type a list in yourself with Add.
Note: If you use Preregistration, expect some Not on roster and Name differs rows the first time you import your real roster. That's the check working as intended, not an error.
